Job Title: Strategic Ecologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Ecologist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. As a key member of our Consultancies, you will play a crucial role in delivering our Biodiversity Plan throughout the Network Rail Eastern Region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Steer and implement landscape-scale biodiversity improvements throughout the Network Rail Eastern Region.
  • Work in a friendly, collaborative team in a major organisation and engage with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilise data gathering tools and GIS to organise ecological information.
  • Hosted by a different consultancy, with options for Network Rail office locations.
Day-to-Day Activities:

As a Strategic Ecologist, you will work under the guidance of the Project Manager, leading in the production of core project deliverables, with the support of Operational Ecologist(s). Initially, this will focus on:

  • Biodiversity Inventory for the lineside estate, based on stakeholder and existing data.
  • Biodiversity Action Plans with overarching objectives for Routes.
  • Habitat Management Plans showing how the objectives will be put into practice.
  • Pilot development of implementation for future stages.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement.
  • Supporting integration of plans into day-to-day working practices and standards.
