We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Housing Support Specialist to join our team at Two Saints. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing person-centred support to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have a strong passion for working with vulnerable individuals and will be committed to helping them achieve their goals and aspirations. You will work closely with clients to identify their needs and develop tailored support plans that address their housing, welfare, and personal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- You will have your own caseload of clients to manage within the community and will work with them on a one-to-one basis to identify their needs and provide practical support.
- You will mediate and negotiate with existing housing providers to prevent homelessness and secure suitable accommodation for our clients.
- You will provide advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits, and household goods, as well as supporting clients with the practicalities of moving to new accommodation.
- You will help clients develop practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, health, and hygiene.
- You will carry out drop-in surgeries at designated locations and liaise with colleges, training agencies, and employers to help people access education, find work, or maintain their benefit entitlement.
Requirements
- A clear passion for working with homeless people and a commitment to helping others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT and keyboard skills.
- A polite, assertive manner and ability to self-motivate.
- A knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
- An interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues.
What We Offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary of £23,775-£25,027, depending on experience. This role also offers opportunities for professional development and career progression.
