Barnstaple, Devon, United Kingdom NHS Full time
About the Job:
North Devon is a fantastic place to live and work, offering an outstanding natural environment, great schools, and excellent connections to Exeter. This new post will enhance our senior clinical capacity in Adult Community Mental Health Services, following the partial retirement of one of our current Consultants.
We are seeking a highly skilled Adult and Child Psychiatrist to join our friendly, cohesive multidisciplinary team. As a key member, you will lead and work collaboratively within the national Community Mental Health Services Framework, which is a priority area for development. Our clinical practice is increasingly integrated with Primary Care and the Devon Mental Health Alliance through PCN-aligned Multi-Agency Teams. We share our Electronic Patient Record (SystmOne) with most of our GPs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work in various settings, including General Adult Community CMHT and the Specialist Team for Early Intervention in Psychosis (STEP). You will be invited to quarterly Medical Advisory Committee meetings, providing good professional support and opportunities to influence Trust practice and policy.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Clinical consultations via Outpatient Clinics, weekly MDT meetings, and ad-hoc advice to co-located teams.
  • Collaborative working with Primary Care and VCSE mainly via weekly online Multi-Agency Team meetings and routine communication with GPs.
  • Making GP referrals through our Trust-wide Referral Management Team, with local triage within CMHTs and STEP.
