Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a small SEND school in Wakefield. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on a 1:1 basis.

About the School:

The school caters to students aged 11-16 years old in Key Stages 3 and 4, specifically supporting those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have been excluded from mainstream education.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Support Assistant who can provide individualized support to students with diverse and complex needs. The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND or challenging behaviours.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse and complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of the students and the school environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
