About the Role

The Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join its team. As a key member of the Ageing and Complex Medicine Directorate, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, contributing to the development of Acute Medical services, and supporting the growth of the team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive geriatric care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex medical conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of Acute Medical services, including the design and implementation of clinical pathways and guidelines.
  • Support the growth of the team by mentoring junior medical staff, participating in on-call rotas, and contributing to the development of the department's strategy.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and promote a culture of excellence.

Requirements

  • CCT in Geriatric Medicine and Adult Care Medicine, or equivalent.
  • Recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine and Adult Care Medicine.
  • Commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner, including participation in on-call rotas.
