About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary therapy service at Royal Brompton Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will work with adults and children with complex chronic heart and lung disease, providing specialist physiotherapy services in respiratory medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, and paediatric respiratory and surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy services to patients with complex chronic heart and lung disease, including those with respiratory and cardiac conditions.
  • Manage a defined area of service or a particular patient type, working autonomously with regular supervision and support from the therapies directorate.
  • Undertake all aspects of clinical duties, including assessment, treatment, and education of patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise, educate, and assess the performance of physiotherapy students and junior staff to ensure high standards of practice and teaching.
  • Participate in active management of long-term patients with a tracheostomy and be responsible for their physical rehabilitation and ventilation progression.
  • Be an active member of the respiratory overnight and weekend on-call rota, providing specialist advice to junior staff and multidisciplinary team members.
Requirements
  • Degree in Physiotherapy and HCPC registration.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in the cardiac and respiratory field, preferably at Band 5/6 level.
  • Specialist cardiorespiratory experience and relevant courses are desirable.
  • Excellent assessment skills, cardio-respiratory theoretical knowledge, independent working, organisation, prioritisation, delegation, team working, and sharing knowledge and skills with others.
