About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our Paediatric Respiratory Team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Physiotherapist, you will play a vital role in providing assessment, treatment, and advice to critically ill children in our paediatric respiratory service.

Main Responsibilities

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with specialist medical staff to promote optimal care for our patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out assessments and treatments for acutely ill paediatric patients with respiratory problems
  • Working with patients with chronic respiratory conditions and long-term ventilation requirements
  • Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care and maintaining accurate records

Service Development

You will also be responsible for proposing and implementing policy changes that impact on all service users, ensuring quality standards and effectiveness of patient care. This will involve:

  • Developing and implementing policies that improve patient care and outcomes
  • Ensuring that junior staff and students implement policy and service developmental changes

Communication and Teamwork

As a Specialist Physiotherapist, you will be able to motivate and persuade others through effective communication skills, using verbal and non-verbal skills, written and electronic information as needed. You will also be responsible for supervising junior staff, students, and assistants, as well as teaching and appraising them.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration in physiotherapy
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Completed core rotations in acute respiratory, orthopaedics, neurology, and outpatients
  • Experience of supervising students
