Advanced Clinical Practitioner Trainee

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac surgery/ Cardiology or Cardiac critical care nurse to join our team as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP). The TACP will work in a busy specialty and demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills, working effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
The TACP will have a true passion for this specialty and strive to deliver excellent care to patients throughout their journey, working closely with other members of the cardiac surgery multi-disciplinary team. The TACP will also have enthusiasm to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills and a willingness to educate and develop other healthcare professionals caring for cardiac surgical patients.
The TACP will play a key role in providing care to our patients and will be expected to drive standards of care and innovation and support education, research and audit.
Main Duties
The post holder will undertake a 2-year Masters programme in Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) to enable them to work towards independent autonomous clinical practice as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. The Masters programme consists of a combination of university and work-based learning.
The areas for the post holder to complete work-based learning in will be discussed and agreed upon successful appointment and will be related to the specific competencies required to meet the needs of the service. Successful completion of the programme and development as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner requires engagement in all aspects of the Masters programme.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse on NMC register
- BSc Nursing/Science or equivalent qualification
- Teaching/assessing qualification
Desirable
- Post-registration study/qualification in Cardiac surgery/Cardiology or Critical Care
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of Clinical Risk Management & Governance
- Audit and research
- Leadership/motivating a team
- Awareness of national and local targets, NSF frameworks, Policy
- Clinical expert within the speciality
- Knowledge of the speciality and relevant general medical knowledge
Training and Experience
Essential
- Experience of leading a team
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience as a Registered nurse in Cardiac surgery or Cardiac surgery intensive/critical care
- Experience of working autonomously and as part of a team
Desirable
- 2 years' experience as a Band 6 in Cardiac surgery Cardiac surgery intensive/critical care
- Experience of undertaking an audit
- Experience of presenting to the multi-disciplinary team
