This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of our Emotional Health Service, specifically in the Mental Health Support Team (MHST).

The MHST works within a cluster of primary and secondary schools with a combined total population of up to 9,500 pupils in each cluster.

As an Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will work jointly with schools and cluster leads to implement a whole school approach to mental health across the cluster, informed by the needs outlined in the cluster action plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Emotional Health Service, specifically in the Mental Health Support Team (MHST)
  • Implement a whole school approach to mental health across the cluster
  • Carry out mental health assessments of children and young people
  • Provide 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families
  • Work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group
  • Make an assessment of risk, to record and communicate it appropriately and take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk

Requirements

  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE HEE COMMISSIONED 1 YEAR EDUCATION MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER COURSE OR CHILD WELLBEING PRACTITIONER COURSE
  • EXPERIENCE OF WORKING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND/OR BEHAVIOURAL DIFFICULTIES INCLUDING ANXIETY DISORDERS AND AFFECTIVE (MOOD) DISORDERS
  • ABILITY TO CARRY OUT MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE AND PROVIDE 1:1 THERAPEUTIC MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTIONS WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Salary

£38,890 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience

This salary range is based on the National Careers Service data for Education Mental Health Practitioners in London.
