Job Description

**Job Title:** Referral Officer - Housing and Support Services

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Referral Officer to join our team at Homeless Link. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality housing and support services to our clients, with a particular focus on referral and allocation responsibilities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Primary Contact:** Be the primary point of contact for all incoming referrals and related enquiries, providing excellent customer service and ensuring timely responses.
  • **Referral Management:** Input referral information onto the Omni ledger System within 3 days of receipt, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • **Accommodation Referrals:** Collate and manage accommodation referrals, ensuring that clients are matched with suitable housing options.
  • **Initial Interview Assessments:** Conduct initial interview assessments with clients, gathering necessary information and providing guidance on available support services.
  • **Risk Assessment:** Be aware of risk assessment and discuss this with providers, ensuring that clients receive appropriate support and services.
  • **Prison Liaison:** Liaise with local prisons to book interview appointments and conduct assessments, providing information on available support services.
  • **Property Vacancies:** Maintain a continuous check on property vacancies in liaison with Supported Housing Officers, ensuring that clients are matched with suitable housing options.
  • **Waiting List Management:** Manage and plan allocations to keep void levels to a minimum, ensuring that clients receive timely and effective support.
  • **Client Support:** Maintain good contact with referring officers to keep up-to-date with client status and any changes in circumstances, ensuring that clients receive ongoing support and services.
  • **Collaboration:** Meet regularly with the Accommodation Officer assigned by the probation service and liaise regularly with the service manager, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.

  • **Strong Communication Skills:** Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • **Organizational Skills:** Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • **Analytical Skills:** Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues.
  • **Knowledge:** Knowledge of housing and support services, with a particular focus on referral and allocation responsibilities.
