Job Title: Principal RF Systems Engineer

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key player in the Aerospace, Defence and Security industry, we are looking for an individual with expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) systems engineering.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of RF systems, working closely with a small mixed-discipline team. This role requires a strong understanding of RF systems, including receivers, transmitters, and power amplifiers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the engineering lifecycle, from design and development to validation and qualification. They will also have strong communication skills, able to explain complex ideas to a mixed-experience audience.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of inter-related Electronic Warfare (EW) projects, with the potential to develop towards a Design Authority role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in RF systems engineering
  • Support technical proposals from concept to delivery
  • Conduct research into Radio systems technologies
  • Implement and assess Model-based simulations
  • Closely work with the team in Integration of Software Defined Radio (SDR) based demonstration systems
  • Support the System Design Authority to fulfil the role of a Design Authority for product/system

Requirements:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: Receivers, Transmitters, PA, EMC
  • Ability to operate at all levels, from board level design/specification to system validation and Qualification
  • Experience of engineering lifecycle, in design and development of RF products/systems
  • Functional analysis and Specification development for RF-products/systems with software/firmware content
  • Able to communicate complex ideas to a mixed-experience audience

Nice to Have/None Essential Skills:

  • Experience with broadband Transceiver modules using SoCs, broadband amplifiers, their implementation and integration into SDR platforms
  • Working knowledge of DOORS for requirements management
  • Previous experience working with telecommunication (2G/3G/4G) Air-Interface specification
  • Previous experience with electronics assembly and testing, inclusive of RF systems under software control
