Job Title: Principal RF Systems Engineer

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key player in the Aerospace, Defence and Security industry, we offer a unique opportunity for an individual to work on a range of inter-related Electronic Warfare (EW) projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small, talented R&D team in the development of low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) concepts through the use of model-based engineering and proof-of-concept prototype systems. This will involve coordinating the team effort to respond to customer needs and leading projects through to a conclusion with recommendations for further work.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Receivers, Transmitters, PA, EMC. They will also have experience in the engineering lifecycle, including design and development of RF products/systems, and functional analysis and specification development for RF-products/systems with software/firmware content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in RF systems and support technical proposals in a concise and knowledgeable manner.
  • Paper research into Radio systems technologies to understand on-air behaviors and identify areas of interest.
  • Propose, implement, and assess model-based simulations to better understand these behaviors, possibly with some HWIL type experimentation.
  • Closely work with the team in the integration of Software Defined Radio (SDR) based demonstration systems for lab and field-based experimentation.
  • Continually relate the emerging solution to customer requirements and Concept of Use (CONUSE).

Requirements:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Receivers, Transmitters, PA, EMC.
  • Experience in the engineering lifecycle, including design and development of RF products/systems.
  • Functional analysis and specification development for RF-products/systems with software/firmware content.
  • Ability to operate at all levels, from board level design/specification for COTS-search to system validation and Qualification.
