Career Opportunity: Senior Crisis Care Practitioner
West London NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of mental health, community, and physical healthcare services for individuals living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Hounslow.
The Ealing Crisis & Home Treatment Team (ECAHTT) is currently seeking a Social Worker to join the team as a Senior Crisis Care Practitioner.
This role involves taking responsibility for assessment and management of service users experiencing a crisis that may require hospital admission without intervention. Referrals will come from various sources, including LPS, Inpatient Wards, Community Teams, and other CAHT Teams & SPA.
The post holder will work closely with Inpatient Services, SPA, MINT, Early Intervention, Social Services, the Police, Statutory, and Voluntary agencies.
As a Senior Practitioner within the team, you will work a 37-hour shift pattern, with regular monthly supervision and reflective practice.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Significant experience in various mental health settings as a qualified practitioner (community, crisis care, or liaison psychiatry)
- Demonstrable experience at band 6 or equivalent
- Delivering clinical supervision/reflective practice to nursing and other professionals
Additionally, you will have:
- Experience of contributing to policy and procedure development and implementation
- Knowledge of adult and children safeguarding requirements
- An understanding of the Care Programme Approach and its application
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care for individuals experiencing acute mental distress.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of both written and spoken English language, excellent telephone manner, and the ability to promote the Home Treatment Team to clients, other professionals, and non-professional groups.
This role requires experience and ability to supervise qualified and unqualified staff, including other professionals, as well as conducting appraisals and personal development planning.
You will be able to evidence excellent record-keeping, experience of writing reports, and acting as an advocate for service users.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate empathy towards individuals with a mental health problem and a positive attitude towards mental health care.
Availability to work a shift rota covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year is essential.
