Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Elowen. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of clinical practice and ensuring optimal clinical outcomes for our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead Clinical Practice: Provide strategic direction and leadership to our clinical teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
  • Responsible Clinician: Serve as the responsible clinician for our 12-bed eating disorders service, ensuring the provision of safe and effective care to our patients.
  • Expert Knowledge and Support: Provide expert knowledge and support to our teams, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure that our services meet the highest standards of quality and compliance, adhering to internal and external regulations and standards.
  • Integrated Care: Work with our multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated, whole-person treatment and care to our patients.

Requirements
  • Fully GMC Registered: Fully registered with the General Medical Council with a relevant medical qualification
  • Specialist Register: Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status
  • Adult Psychiatry Experience: Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis
  • Mental Health Act Knowledge: Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, as well as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: An accomplished leader and clinician with strong line management and communication skills
  • Mental Health Setting Experience: Experienced within a mental health setting and a multidisciplinary team
  • Clinical Governance: Knowledgeable of all aspects of clinical governance
  • Medical Appraisals and Supervision: Skilled in medical appraisals, clinical supervision, case investigation, and case management
  • Professional Membership: A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
