Job Title: Energy and Sustainability Engineer

Location: Belfast

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Working Hours: 39 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a robust energy efficiency programme/ management system in line with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard throughout the duration of the contract.
    • Ensure compliance with UK Emissions Trading Scheme- Queen's Island
    • Implement Climate Change Agreements- Queen's Island and BAS
    • Streamline Energy and Carbon Reporting- all sites
    • Implement Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme- all sites
  • Deliver energy awareness workshops to all Spirit departments as required.
  • Attend monthly Environmental Working Groups where energy performance is reviewed with the on-site departments and prepare supporting information slides/ materials.
  • Provide various energy and water reports, such as:
    • Monthly report detailing all aspects of energy management and compliance to include year to date consumption/ carbon and spend versus budget, identification and progress on energy efficiency projects and compliance.
    • Fortnightly risk notification/ cost projections.
    • Monthly Energy Governance Reports.
    • Ensure robust data management, ensuring that all corporate and legal reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate fashion.
    • Chair fortnightly operational and monthly strategic energy management meetings and prepare supporting materials.
    • Maintain and develop a Register of Opportunities where energy projects are identified and reviewed.
    • Deal with any requests from local environmental agencies (NIEA) and Utility Regulator.
    • Support the client with energy procurement and management of energy suppliers, including attendance at quarterly review meetings where directed.
    • Attend seminars and consultation workshops on behalf of the client.
    • Manage energy and water budgets, including PO raising/ uplifts, bill validation and invoice management.
    • Develop and maintain energy standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all activities.
    • Support customer initiatives which could lead to longer term benefits to both the customer and ABM.
    • Address issues of performance and quality standards in a timely manner.

    Requirements:
    • 5 Years post qualification engineering experience across different industrial sectors operating within a regulated environment.
    Desired Qualifications:
    • Health and safety qualified to NEBOSH level.

    • Ability to develop and maintain strong and sustainable relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
    • Flexible, reliable, responsible, calm in a crisis.
    • Positive attitude to private outsourcing.
    • Willing to continue professional development and to develop the role.
    • Willing to undergo, and provide, training/coaching in line with organisational philosophy.
