Role Overview

As a Wastewater Process Scientist, you will be responsible for leading our Operations colleagues with Process Science and Engineering initiatives, ensuring wastewater and biosolids compliance targets are met, and overcoming operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and scientific expertise to Wastewater Operations to help maintain treatment works compliance, responding to failures or operational emergencies.
  • Organise and complete regulatory failure investigations to identify and resolve the root cause of non-compliance.
  • Monitor asset performance through sampling, analysis of scientific data, and leading initiatives to maintain and improve performance.
  • Support the continuous improvement process through stakeholder engagement and involvement in Waste Water Process Science working groups and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • A strong process engineering or scientific background, ideally with a relevant degree or experience.
  • Robust knowledge and experience of wastewater and biosolids treatment, processes, and instrumentation.
  • High standard of analytical and problem-solving skills, clear and confident communication skills, and experience in report writing.
  • A full clean UK driving licence and a personal vehicle insured and available for business use.

Grade and Salary

This role will be a Grade 6 with a starting salary of £33,560, with performance-driven pay progression up to £44,140.
