Autism Specialist Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Specialist Practitioner to join our Autism Liaison Service at West London NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist assessments and interventions to autistic service users in acute and community mental health services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide client-centred autism specialist services to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs across acute and community mental health.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to identify and meet the needs of service users under the care of acute mental health services with a diagnosis of autism or where autism is suspected.
- Offer assessments and interventions for autistic service users, bringing your specialist skills to support their needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including service users, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to service development and clinical audits, ensuring the highest standards of care and quality improvement.
- Professional qualification in mental health, such as Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (BABCP accredited), or Arts Therapist.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body (HCPC, NMC, BPS, BABCP).
- Relevant post-qualification experience in Mental Health and/or Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Application of core profession-specific skills in assessments and interventions.
- Experience of working with autistic people, including sensory integration, social stories, and positive approaches to behaviours of concern.
- Lived experience of autism, either as an autistic person or carer/supporter.
- Experience of supervision of students and staff.
- Experience of delivering training/teaching.
- Experience of undertaking sensory assessments and sensory-based interventions.
