Category Manager

Oxford Instruments is seeking a skilled Category Manager to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a vital role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives that minimize cost and risk while maximizing quality, service, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Group Strategic Sourcing Director in achieving business goals through best practice sourcing and supply chain processes.
  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies for CAPEX and Indirect spend categories.
  • Manage key supplier relationships, performance, and commercial agreements.
  • Plan and implement category sourcing strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Continuously improve sourcing practices and efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with business leaders and functional teams to implement strategies consistently across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain supplier financial performance reports to monitor supplier KPIs such as delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Manage the Group Approved Vendor List, ensuring the selection of reliable and high-performing suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional team meetings and effective communication.
  • Implement procurement processes, supplier quality management, and cost improvement projects.
  • Handle contracting, contract management, and risk assessment/mitigation.
Requirements:
  • Considerable procurement experience with a solid understanding of sourcing policies and procedures.
  • Strategic mindset, analytical skills, and research capabilities to make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of commercial and financial aspects of procurement, both direct and indirect.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Results-oriented and proactive, with a constant strive for improvement and challenge to the status quo.
  • External/market orientation to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
Education and Qualifications:
  • A degree in a related field, providing a solid foundation for this role.
  • MCIPS certification is preferred but not essential.
