We are seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join our team at Academics Ltd. Our school provides a therapeutic environment for students with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs, aged 11-16. The ideal candidate will have a strong willingness to work with and make a difference to the lives of vulnerable and disaffected young people, who can display challenging and volatile behaviours.

The successful candidate will be able to take a therapeutic approach and have experience in interventions and de-escalation. They will work closely with our team to support students with social and emotional difficulties and mental health needs. Patience, resilience, and a good sense of humour are essential for this role.

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for managing challenging behaviours and supporting students to work through their difficulties. You will also contribute to the development of a positive and supportive learning environment.

We offer a long-term permanent position, working full-time hours from 08:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday. If you have experience in teaching, mental health, childcare, or youth work, and are confident in managing behaviour that challenges, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a therapeutic environment
  • Manage challenging behaviours and develop strategies for de-escalation
  • Work closely with the team to provide a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Contribute to the development of individualised support plans for students

Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching, mental health, childcare, or youth work
  • Ability to take a therapeutic approach and work with vulnerable young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
