About the Role

Activate Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of severe, complex, and moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and/or behavioural needs.

You will be responsible for assisting students in their classroom-based lessons and supporting self-directed study times on a 1:1 basis. In addition to a student's study programme, you may also be following a bespoke programme of learning to support their development of life skills, independence, and employability.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with students with Autism and associated difficulties, some of which are complex. You will need to have good communication skills to work with tutors to ensure the delivery of an effective programme of further education and to work as part of a co-ordination team.

Personal care may be part of the duties included in this role, and training will be provided in giving medical care and support.

Requirements

To be successful as a Teaching Assistant at Activate Learning, you will need to have:

  • GCSE or equivalent level of Maths and English
  • A level 3 Support Assistant qualification or equivalent (not essential)
  • Experience of working in an FE environment (advantageous but not essential)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
