Job Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the class teacher or line manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom
  • Enabling access to learning for all pupils
  • Undertaking learning, care or support programmes for individuals or groups of pupils
  • Supporting programmes for teaching communication, literacy and numeracy
  • Assisting pupils to access the full curriculum
  • Helping to organise personalised classroom activities, prepare resources and maintain the learning environment
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to future planning as part of a team
  • Providing support for pupils' emotional and social development
  • Ensuring the physical welfare of pupils
  • Leading extra-curricular activities for small groups of students
  • Communicating and liaising with other members of the school staff and the multi-disciplinary team
