Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our ground engineering and tunnels team in East Croydon. The successful candidate will have strong technical and management credentials, with a proven track record of leading projects in railway geotechnics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and grow existing and new commissions, with a focus on railway geotechnics.
  • Work in a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) function on rail projects, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects, including commercial, technical, and management aspects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
Requirements:
  • Strong academic background with a relevant degree and ideally an MSc in a relevant subject.
  • Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience, with relevant experience in railway geotechnics.
  • Project Management experience, including commercial and technical aspects.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to manage and develop others.
  • Experience in ground investigation and interpretation.
  • Project leader skills and CRE experience with interface with contractor clients and site experience.
  • Desire to drive digital innovation and further AtkinsRéalis' capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Willingness to travel on short assignments, both within the UK and overseas.
  • Chartered status.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
