Mental Health Specialist Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Specialist Consultant to join our team at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients with complex needs.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership to one of our Community Mental Health Teams, based in Watford. You will work closely with junior medical staff, ensuring they operate within the parameters of the New Deal and Working Time Directive. Additionally, you will participate in service and business planning activities, attend academic programs, and maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council.
Key Responsibilities- To provide clinical leadership to junior medical staff, assessing their competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework and ensuring they operate within the agreed parameters.
- To ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder comply with the New Deal and Working Time Directive.
- To participate in service and business planning activities for the locality and whole mental health service.
- To attend and participate in the academic program of the Trust and team, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD program.
- To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and abide by professional codes of conduct.
- To participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager to ensure the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- CCT in Psychiatry or Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry by CESR route or within six months of achieving CCT/CESR at the time of interview.
- Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in General Adult psychiatry.
- Experience of working with service users who have complex needs within General Adult psychiatry.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
Estimated salary: £90,000 - £110,000 per annum (dependent on experience). We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, annual leave, and opportunities for continuing professional development.
