Crime Recording Lead

Job Purpose: As a Crime Recording Lead at Warwickshire Police, you will be responsible for the direction and delivery of Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR), the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS), and the National Standard for Incident Recording (NSIR).
Main Responsibilities:
- To understand all the routes through which crime is reported, the volumes of crime and incidents involved, and the specific crime recording attrition risks associated with each route.
- Lead, deliver, implement, and monitor Crime and Incident Recording and Outcome Policies, ensuring high standards of data integrity and achieving a consistent and accurate response to crime recording.
- Act with sufficient independence and authority to ensure high standards of adherence to HOCR, NCRS, and NSIR, providing advice to Chief Constables and PCCs on emerging risks and themes.
- Provide strategic reports and briefs to PCCs and the Chief Officer team on crime and incident recording matters, ensuring they are well briefed to respond effectively.
- Oversight of crime recording processes, including appropriate delays and recording of crimes without victim confirmation.
Requirements:
- Educated to Degree Level or able to demonstrate related skills and knowledge.
- Specialist knowledge of HOCR, NCRS, and NSIR, and significant understanding of law, statute, and definitions of offences.
- Understanding of approaches and frameworks for leading strategic business planning, risk management, and policy.
