We are a start-up biotechnology company based in the UK, dedicated to developing innovative medical devices for clinical trials. Our focus is on creating a minimally invasive and accurate diagnostic for Colorectal Cancer (CRC), which will help reduce NHS waiting times and enable earlier detection.

Our team uses state-of-the-art sequencing methodologies to analyse mucus-based biospecimens, producing large volumes of data that need to be processed through bioinformatics pipelines. As a **Data Engineer - Cloud and Bioinformatics**, you will play a key role in managing our cloud infrastructure to support these projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable cloud resources to process large volumes of sequencing data.
  • Develop automation solutions to streamline data collection from laboratory instruments.
  • Collaborate with the laboratory and clinical teams to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Maintain high security standards for cloud infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Proficiency in Python/R programming languages and experience with cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker or Singularity) and schedulers (AWS Batch, GCP Batch or Slurm).
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices and cloud security principles.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Associate-level cloud certification.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in cloud engineering, bioinformatics, and data management. You will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud infrastructure to support our sequencing projects, ensuring efficient data processing and analysis.
