Job Overview:

Connaught Resourcing is seeking a skilled Custody Nurse/Paramedic to join our team on a agency basis. As a Custody Nurse/Paramedic, you will work within the custody contracts, providing healthcare services to patients/detainees under company PGDs (patient group directives). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients/detainees to determine their fitness for detention, interview, transfer, and release
  • Managing minor illnesses and injuries, and referring more serious conditions for further action
  • Clinical examination of police officers/staff injured on duty
  • Collecting specimens as required under legislation
  • Providing written statements and testimony in court or tribunal
  • Alcohol and drug intoxication testing
  • Mental health and learning disability assessments

Person Specification:

  • Registered Nurse (General/Mental health)/Paramedic
  • Minimum 2 years qualified
  • NMC Registration/HCPC registration
  • Willing to undertake DBS check and police vetting process
  • Venipuncture
  • Lived in the UK for 3 years
  • Nursing experience in A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, drug & alcohol workers, EAU, SAU
  • Valid UK Driving License with access to a car for work purposes

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience of working closely with team members and external parties to review patient care
  • Experience of innovative practice
