Director of FEP Drug Discovery

Aspire Life Sciences Search is seeking a highly skilled Director of FEP Drug Discovery to join our client's team. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in free energy calculations and team management. The ideal candidate will have experience managing PhDs and postdocs, and will be able to deliver value for short and long-term endeavors. The role involves managing a team of four people dedicated to free energy calculations, developing free energy methods, mentoring and expanding the existing team, and overseeing projects from early stages to pre-clinical phases. The candidate will also represent the team externally, engaging with major pharmaceutical companies and other key stakeholders. The team works closely with a multidisciplinary team including machine learning engineers, project managers, medicinal chemists, and physicists, all focused on scalable and reproducible drug discovery using advanced machine learning algorithms. The successful candidate will have a broad background enabling them to implement a scientific and in-depth methodology, and will be able to deliver value for short and long-term endeavors. Key responsibilities include:

* Managing a team of four people dedicated to free energy calculations
* Developing free energy methods
* Mentoring and expanding the existing team
* Overseeing projects from early stages to pre-clinical phases
* Representing the team externally, engaging with major pharmaceutical companies and other key stakeholders
