Main Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements.

They will promote best practice across the Delivery Team and observe the Contractor's working operations for compliance with the Specification.

The Supervisor will oversee the recording of daily on-going works, including plant, people, gangs, and weather.

They will also organise and inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works.

The Supervisor will agree defective works with the Contractor and record them on the site quality systems and within CEMAR.

They will ensure the Contractor closes out Defects within the timescales within the Contract and manage defects not closed out in a timely manner.

The Supervisor will observe the on-site health and safety aspects of the Contractor's operations and inform the Project Manager of key H&S risks / and or areas for improvement.

They will report observed on-site safety issues to the Project Manager / Supervisor.

The Supervisor will attend meetings as requested by the Project Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have significant relevant work experience within the Highway and Bridge sector, including leading a supervision team and technical teams.

They will be familiar with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works and hold a Driving Licence.

A CSCS Card and NRSWA supervisor qualification are also required.

The Supervisor will be able to attend site as required.

Desirable

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and experienced in using CEMAR (for recording Defects) are desirable qualifications.

NEC4 ECC Supervisor accreditation is also an advantage.

Competencies & Behaviours

The successful candidate will have the ability to liaise confidently with the Contractor on all testing technical matters and inspections.

They will work within a team providing commercial support to the Commercial Manager and have a proactive approach to the resolution of issues.

The Supervisor will be able to liaise confidently with the Contractor on all observed unsafe health and safety practices or near misses.

Good communication and negotiating skills within a collaborative team environment are essential.

Excellent record management skills, including the use of app-based record keeping products, are also required.

Reporting & Communication

The Supervisor will report directly to the Project Manager as part of the contract administration team.

They will be able to independently liaise with the Contractors operational team on a day-to-day basis.

The Supervisor will manage the inspectors to ensure the Contractor quality is ensured.

Working Location

On-site presence is required for the whole working week for the duration of the works.
