About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Maternity Care Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support midwives and other healthcare professionals in providing safe and holistic care to women and their newborns.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with women and their families, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and empathy.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate and timely clinical records, adhering to local information governance and data protection policies.
  • Participate in tracking, obtaining, and filing clinical records as required.
  • Communicate effectively with women, staff, and visitors, conveying an approachable and professional manner.
  • Form good relationships across the multidisciplinary team, maintaining confidentiality across all areas of work.
  • Commit to personal development through continued training and development, carrying out duties associated with the post, including manual handling.
Requirements
  • Essential:
    • GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
    • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
    • NVQ2 in Health and Social Care.
    • Commit to undertake in-house training.
  • Desirable:
    • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway.
    • Care Certificate.
