About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Maternity Care Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist midwives and other healthcare professionals in providing safe and holistic care to women and their newborns.
  • Support women in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including assisting with personal care and maintaining accurate records.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with women, their families, and colleagues, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and empathy.
  • Recognize the scope of practice within national frameworks and demonstrate NHS Constitution values, seeking guidance when unsure.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection, maintaining accurate and timely records.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent
    • NVQ2 in Health and Social Care
    • Commit to undertake in-house training
  • Desirable:
    • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway
    • Care Certificate
