About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Horse Welfare Specialist to join our team at the Rolleston Rehoming Centre. As a key member of our equine care team, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of horses and ponies, ensuring their welfare and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily care and handling of horses and ponies, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
  • Assess and address the needs of horses and ponies, including providing medical care and administering medications as required.
  • Develop and implement training plans to help horses and ponies prepare for rehoming.
  • Work closely with the Rehabilitation Trainer and Behaviour Advisor to ensure the best possible outcomes for horses and ponies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, promoting the welfare and rehoming of horses and ponies.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of working with horses and ponies, preferably in a welfare or rehoming environment.
  • BHS stage 3 or equivalent professional experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A working knowledge of horse care and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
