About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analyst - Graduate to join our team in a busy laboratory at Westinghouse Electric Company. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing analytical support for our Fuel production and Residue Recovery operations.

The laboratory operates within a highly regulated industry, with a strong focus on quality and safety. As an Analyst - Graduate, you will be responsible for carrying out analysis in various techniques such as XRF spectroscopy, pH, Karl Fischer analysis, UV-VIS spectrometry, ISE analysis, and physical testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analysis and Testing: Conduct routine sampling and analysis using instrumental or classical chemistry techniques, particularly ICP-MS, Ion Chromatography, X-Ray Fluorescence, Ion Selective Electrode, and physical testing techniques.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the department's UKAS accredited quality system and within the Operating rules of the department's Safety Case.
  • Method Development: Develop current and new Analytical Methods, keeping abreast of new theories and analytical instrumentation.
  • Documentation: Author and review standard operating instructions in accordance with site-specific requirements and ISO-17025.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the equipment used within the lab, providing technical input into the analysis methods, and following recent developments in analytical techniques, implementation of new techniques, and efficiency savings across the area.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: A minimum of a 2:2 degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience on an operating site, preferably in the nuclear sector or other hazardous chemical industries.
  • Skill Set: Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot and investigate analytical anomalies.
  • Personal Qualities: Integrity, resilience, drive, energy, understanding people, teamwork, accountability, customer focus, innovation, and speed.

The successful candidate will receive full training for this role and have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
