The Role

We are seeking a skilled Claims Handler to join our team. As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for handling claims from the first notification of loss through to the final adjustment and settlement. You will work closely with our Claims Manager and other adjusters to ensure that claims are handled efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and triage first notifications of loss
  • Liaise with brokers and underwriters to progress claims
  • Appoint surveyors, lawyers, and other experts to progress claims
  • Collect and review documents related to claims
  • Contribute to settlement negotiations with insureds and consider possible recoveries from third parties
  • Participate in regular claims conference calls to discuss claim progression with clients
  • Manage experts to ensure adherence to agreed scope of works
  • Check and approve invoices for payment
  • Ensure that claims management systems are up to date
  • Maintain personal timesheets to bill chargeable time
  • Contribute to fee production and meet annual budgeted WIP targets
  • Market the TPA offering to existing and new business contacts to increase overall business

Person Specification

  • 5 years claims experience in a TPA or underwriter in commercial property
  • A Level education
  • Comfortable learning bespoke IT systems and working in an electronic/paper-free environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recording information
  • Numerate and good communication skills/team player
  • Customer-centric with a focus on putting clients at the heart of everything
