Finance Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the smooth operation of the business.
  • Implement and maintain effective treasury controls to mitigate financial risk.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including budgeting and forecasting, to inform business decisions.
  • Review and analyse Management Accounts Packs to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure all financial processes, systems, and controls are operating effectively and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with local authorities to secure grants for care homes.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies to streamline operations and improve financial efficiency.
  • Advise on and implement best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of annual accounts.
  • Manage audits and internal control operations to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and tax duties in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identify and recommend cost reduction solutions to improve financial performance.
  • Negotiate with banks, utility, and property suppliers to secure the best possible terms.
Requirements:
  • Qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the care home sector or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with management account reviews and financial audits.
  • Knowledge of local authority grant processes for care homes.
  • Ability to develop and implement accounting policies.
  • Expertise in increasing revenue and reducing costs.
  • Experience managing finance and payroll departments.
  • Familiarity with VAT, PAYE, and tax duties.
  • Strong negotiation skills with banks and suppliers.
