Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join our team as part of the PROPEL Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for pharmacists to develop their clinical leadership skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will participate in defined and structured rotations across various settings within pharmacy and clinical specialties, with learning outcomes and training opportunities linked to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Frameworks. You will also undertake fully funded further study appropriate to the role, e.g., Diploma/Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Non-Medical Prescribing.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality clinical pharmacy service ensuring safe, effective, and economical use of medicines for patients attending and admitted to University Hospitals Plymouth.
  • Support ward-based clinical pharmacy services to ensure safe prescribing and administration of medicines, including drug history taking, medicines reconciliation, medicine supply, patient medication consultations, medicines optimisation services, and discharge medication service (DMS).
  • Provide expert advice on medications (supply & clinical issues) to clinical staff across the organisation.
  • Teach and clinically supervise pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals across the organisation.
  • Undertake audits and engage with the department's Quality Improvement and practice research projects.
  • Participate in the on-call and out of hours service as per departmental rota.

Salary: £43,054 - £69,867 per annum
