Costs Budgeting Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Costs Budgeting Specialist to join our team at Keoghs LLP. As a Costs Budgeting Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing Precedent H and R costs budgets, advising on costs management and negotiation, and providing excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage own caseload using in-house case management system, ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of records and billing information.
- Draft and update Precedent H costs budgets, and prepare Precedent R costs budgets on opponent's Precedent H costs budgets.
- Conduct negotiations arising from costs case management orders and achieve daily chargeable hour targets.
- Delegating tasks to other team members where appropriate and reviewing files to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Preparing cost strategy reports and providing written updates to clients on case activity.
- Negotiating costs advantageous to our clients and dealing with correspondence and telephone calls.
- Advising main team handlers on Costs and Case Management Conference (CCMC).
Requirements
- Experience in a similar cost budgeting or drafting role, either claimant or defendant.
- Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information securely.
- Previous experience of client liaison and handling own caseload.
- Flexible and able to respond to requests, with good telephone manner and communication skills.
- Ability to use own initiative, plan and prioritise workloads, and remain calm under pressure.
- Proficient IT skills, particularly in Excel.
Desirable
- Education - Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD or equivalent.
- Conducted own advocacy.
