Job Title: Laboratory Services Manager
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Services Manager to join our team at Immunocore. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery, maintenance, and support of laboratory services, ensuring they meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Subject Matter Expertise: The Laboratory Services Manager will be the subject matter expert for laboratory services, ensuring that all maintenance activities are coordinated, compliant, and cost-effective.
- Asset Management: The successful candidate will be responsible for the ownership of the laboratory CAFM system, human resources, and associated other asset management systems.
- Team Management: The Laboratory Services Manager will have direct line management of the resources associated with delivery, including staff management, development, and support.
- Collaboration: The successful candidate will collaborate with the Facilities Director in the development of new policies and/or ideas to further improve the company's operations.
- Operational Efficiency: The Laboratory Services Manager will manage a small team to drive operational efficiency in lab asset service maintenance.
- Contract Management: The successful candidate will ensure the maintenance and renewal of scientific equipment contracts and organize equipment repairs on a daily basis.
- Project Management: The Laboratory Services Manager will manage small projects, support Facilities-related relocation and design projects, specifically in relation to lab equipment.
- Contractor Management: The successful candidate will ensure all scientific equipment-related 'contractors' are booked in for all repairs and maintenance to all machines and building infrastructure.
- Health and Safety: The Laboratory Services Manager will ensure all contractors adhere to the Immunocore H&S policy/permit to work and are correctly inducted before entering any parts of the buildings.
- Database Management: The successful candidate will manage and own the associated databases, ensuring they are operated and utilized correctly by all users.
- Supplier Management: The Laboratory Services Manager will work closely and interact with suppliers to ensure Immunocore receives best value, service, and maximizes the functionality of the system(s).
- Line Management: The successful candidate will line manage the team, providing guidance and coaching to junior members of the team.
- Objective Setting: The Laboratory Services Manager will set meaningful own and team objectives to drive strong performance.
- Risk Assessment: The successful candidate will ensure Risk Assessments for all works managed by Immunocore.
- Compliance: The Laboratory Services Manager will liaise with EHS to ensure compliance throughout all laboratories.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Advanced Knowledge: The successful candidate will exhibit advanced, wide-ranging understanding of in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, and concepts within the lab assets function.
- Experience: The Laboratory Services Manager will have experience in the differing requirements of laboratories and associated equipment.
- Asset Management: The successful candidate will have advanced, wide-ranging understanding and experience of 'asset management' in relation to planned maintenance and statutory inspections.
- Management Experience: The Laboratory Services Manager will have held roles previously in the management capacity of a manager, specifically in relation to asset management of business assets.
- Customer Service: The successful candidate will have managed service delivery to a demanding customer group.
- Commercial Awareness: The Laboratory Services Manager will have strong commercial awareness of contract management and previous experience working with contractors.
- Team Management: The successful candidate will have successfully managed a small team including data administrators.
- IT Skills: The Laboratory Services Manager will have good knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable:
- Facilities Experience: The successful candidate will have previously provided facilities/laboratory support within a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Knowledge: The Laboratory Services Manager will have knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and associated infrastructure equipment.
- Industry Experience: The successful candidate will have worked in Facilities support in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector, which is highly beneficial.
Education and Qualifications:
- Degree: The successful candidate will have a degree calibre.
- IT Skills: The Laboratory Services Manager will be an expert in MS Excel.
- IT Skills: The successful candidate will have demonstratable ability to use IT systems specifically around data capture and scheduling.
- FM Qualification: The Laboratory Services Manager will have a FM qualification (D).
