About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion Department at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying and disseminating highly specialist Blood Transfusion knowledge and practical experience to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform highly complex examinations of clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and interpretation of laboratory investigations to healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor internal and external quality control results and take appropriate action to identify and correct problems.
  • Contribute to the future planning and organisation of the service by reporting issues, problems and trends to senior management.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • State Registered BMS (HCPC) with completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent.
  • MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Significant post-registration experience with demonstration of skill at specialist level.
