Job Title: Advanced Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As an Advanced Biomedical Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the development of our immunocytochemistry and molecular service, providing expert advice and interpretation of laboratory investigations to healthcare professionals.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have proven experience in routine and specialist Histopathology techniques, with a strong background in Immunocytochemistry and molecular diagnostics. You will be responsible for performing complex examinations of clinical specimens, interpreting results, and providing expert advice to healthcare professionals. Additionally, you will lead on teaching, training, and developing staff in the designated field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform highly complex examinations of clinical specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and interpretation of laboratory investigations to healthcare professionals.
  • Lead on teaching, training, and developing staff in the designated field.
  • Deputise for the Deputy Service Manager as required.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:

  • HCPC registered.
  • MSc or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years post-registration experience.
  • Evidence of relevant specialised/expert knowledge.
