Assistant Shop Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at Mencap. As a key member of our retail team, you will play a vital role in driving sales, managing stock, and leading a team of volunteers and paid staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement in-store systems to maximize profits and donations.
  • Ensure stock is sourced from local areas and donors, and maintain a high standard of presentation throughout the store.
  • Manage financial and cash handling, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Build and lead an effective volunteer team, providing training, development, and appraisals.
  • Collaborate with the wider retail team to achieve profit targets and drive business growth.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an assistant manager or supervisor in a retail environment, preferably with charity retail experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and Bank Holidays, and willingness to travel to team meetings and training events.
  • Passion for the Mencap values and commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
