IT School Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled IT School Technician to provide first- and second-line support to our school users. The ideal candidate will have a valid Enhanced DBS and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective communication across all levels of the business
  • Offer first- and second-line support to all users of technology
  • Follow up with customers to ensure full resolution of issues
  • Set up, deploy, and re-image desktops and hardware
  • Ensure anti-virus updates and Microsoft Security updates are current on school networks
  • Advise schools on technical matters
  • Install software as directed and in accordance with licensing legislation
  • Perform installations of peripheral devices
  • Provide general maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical housekeeping of networks and peripheral devices
  • Diagnose system errors and other issues
  • Set up printer hardware
  • Liaise with second-line support on server issues
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory and asset register of IT equipment
  • Maintain network user accounts, profiles, permissions, and user additions and deletions
  • Provide support and assistance to teaching staff when using IT equipment
  • Carry out other duties in line with the purpose and grade of the job
  • Maintain each school's network, including management of daily backups, anti-virus tools, and software licenses
