About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at the Department for Transport. As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in leading a team to deliver a transformation programme that will support the Department for Transport to transition to a new Shared Service provision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Develop and implement project plans, manage project control documentation, and ensure scope, deliverables, timescales, resource requirements, and budget are clearly defined and achieved.
  • Delivery: Drive and oversee the delivery of the project to ensure objectives are clearly defined and achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Risk and Issues: Identify, monitor, and manage risks and issues, and successfully manage risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain and enhance good stakeholder relations through effective communications, reporting progress and issues appropriately, and ensuring teams work in an efficient and coordinated manner.
Person Specification

We are looking for a capable project management professional with outstanding stakeholder management and interpersonal skills. You will excel at written and verbal communication and can effectively deliver information in a clear, confident, and professional manner. You will be someone who can build rapport with key stakeholders both internally and externally and enjoys working collaboratively with people at all levels.

You are a self-motivated and ambitious individual who is comfortable working independently and keen to develop and build knowledge for yourself and others. Highly organized, you will have good attention to detail and be able to meet conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
  • Project Delivery qualification (such as PRINCE2, APM, PMQ, or Managing Successful Programmes) at Practitioner level, or be working towards, or be willing to gain the qualification once in role.
  • A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
