About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to the development of medical education and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • As Subject Lead for Neurology, you will work closely with academic leads and clinical colleagues to formulate and implement a plan for the delivery of subject teaching within Medical Sciences module, and the delivery of related placements within the Clinical Skills and Professional Practice module.
  • You will use your subject matter expertise and educational experience to create and curate high-quality teaching materials across a range of teaching and learning modalities.
  • You will work closely with other teaching leads and development teams to ensure close integration of medical science, anatomy, and clinical skills and reasoning teaching within the subject.
  • You will develop formative and summative assessments based on the learning materials generated that are aligned to, and reflective of, the questions students will encounter in the relevant aspects of Medical Licensing Assessment.
  • You will continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of content and delivery.
  • You will work with local education providers to ensure activity is well calibrated to provide as uniform an experience as possible.
  • You will contribute to the wider delivery of medical school activities, such as participation in admissions, tutoring, and assessment and feedback.
  • You will review and respond promptly to feedback from all sources.
  • You will work as a practising clinician, embedded in the relevant clinical service within the trust.
Requirements
  • Fully registered with the General Medical Council
  • MRCP or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • MD or PhD degree
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology via: oCCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
Essential Clinical Skills and Experience
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers, and other staff
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Desirable Clinical Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working with primary care/community colleagues
  • A commitment to and experience of teaching
  • Experience of structured patient education
  • A sub-speciality Neurology interest
  • Specialist Registrar in Neurology or Equivalent
