About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. As an Orthoptist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality orthoptic services to patients, including assessing, diagnosing, and planning management and supervising treatment.

You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver a comprehensive eye care service, including managing clinics, supervising junior staff, and contributing to the development of the orthoptic service.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality orthoptic services to patients, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Manage clinics, including Orthoptic-led follow-up clinics, joint Orthoptic and neuro-ophthalmology clinics, and eye casualty clinics.
  • Supervise and assess junior staff, including orthoptists and optometrists.
  • Contribute to the development of the orthoptic service, including strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Registered Orthoptist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Experience of managing clinics and supervising junior staff.
