Senior Dental Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dental Officer to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Dental Officer to work in a clinically led organisation that prioritises quality and safety, patient experience, and staff well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality dental care to patients, including those with special care needs.
- Lead and manage a team of dental professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the trust's dental strategy.
- BDS or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- NHSE Performer List number.
- Not subject to open or ongoing Performer Investigation.
- Postgraduate qualification in Special Care Dentistry (desirable).
- Experience of working with special care patients, clinical audit, and confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current driving licence.
- Compliance with NHS policy on smoking.
- Postgraduate qualification in Paediatric Dentistry.
- Postgraduate qualification in Sedation.
- Experience of treating patients under General Anaesthesia.
- Experience in domiciliary dental care.
- Experience of mentoring or working as a Clinical Supervisor/Educational Supervisor.
- Understanding of basic physiology and medical conditions that may cause complications in dentistry.
- Current commissioning guidelines in sedation, special care, and paediatric dentistry.
- Basic Life Support and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of local NHS services and legislative framework governing oral health care in England.
- Sound knowledge of clinical and restorative dentistry.
- High standard of professional ethics and integrity.
- Empathy towards vulnerable groups.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working patterns and locations.
