We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dental Officer to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Dental Officer to work in a clinically led organisation that prioritises quality and safety, patient experience, and staff well-being.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality dental care to patients, including special care patients, in a safe and effective manner.
- Lead and manage a team of dental professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care.
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the dental service strategy, ensuring alignment with the trust's overall objectives.
- BDS or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- NHSE Performer List number.
- Not subject to open or ongoing Performer Investigation.
- Postgraduate qualification in Special Care Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, or Sedation (desirable).
- Five years post-graduate clinical activity.
- Experience of working with special care patients and clinical audit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competency in conscious sedation.
- Experience of treating patients under General Anaesthesia.
- Experience in domiciliary dental care.
- Mentoring or Clinical Supervisor/Educational Supervisor experience.
- Special Care Dentistry experience.
- Understanding of basic physiology and medical conditions that may cause complications in dentistry.
- Current commissioning guidelines in sedation, special care, and paediatric dentistry.
- Basic Life Support and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of local NHS services and legislative framework governing oral health care in England.
- Sound knowledge of clinical and restorative dentistry.
- High standard of professional ethics and integrity.
- Empathy towards vulnerable groups.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Current driving licence.
- Compliance with NHS policy on smoking.
- Ability to travel between sites in Cumbria.
