About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Crematorium General Assistant to join our dedicated team at Grenoside Crematorium. As a key member of our funeral services team, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the crematorium, ensuring that every goodbye is dignified and meaningful.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide essential support and assistance in various aspects of crematorium operations, including gardening, cemetery, and horticultural tasks.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room.
  • Maintain the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices.
  • Construct, place, fix memorials and subsequently maintain to the highest standard.
  • Operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines.
  • Ensure the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium.
  • Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms.
  • Prepare chapels for each service considering client needs, including varying religious requirements.
  • Conduct witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains.
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service.
Requirements
  • Hold 2+ years experience in a customer service environment.
  • High attention to detail is essential.
  • Proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Ability to successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Computer literate, with experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy.
