Job Title: Finance Officer

St Simon Stock Catholic School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Officer to join our finance team. As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial work of the school and managing aspects of work in the Finance Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Control: Process income and expenditure, produce cheques/bacs/direct debit payments for authorisation, reconcile bank accounts, and monitor 'difficult to forecast' spends such as supply, energy, and examination costs.
  • ParentPay: Set up payment items, process income and refunds, deal with parent/staff enquiries, and maintain up-to-date student and staff records.
  • Lunch Cards: Control the issue of Catering Cards, including organising the new Year 7 import and co-ordinating delivery of cards and access codes, and deal with parent/student/staff enquiries.
  • School Trips: Be responsible for the costing of school trips, process income and expenditure, manage support requests, and analyse and reconcile trips after the event.
  • Training & Development: Maintain records of all outstanding fees and expenses, process orders, invoices, and expenses, and maintain a computerised asset register.
  • Asset Register: Maintain a computerised register, produce monthly reports, and carry out yearly stock/audit checks.
  • General Matters: Cover finance team absence as necessary, deputise for Finance Manager as necessary after training, and take up designated post during emergency/drill as per H&S manual.
Requirements:
  • Good standard of general education together with good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Formal accountancy qualifications or part-qualified.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • High level of ICT skills.
  • Previous experience working in a finance role and department for multiple years.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of school funding and budget management.
  • Knowledge of PSF financial accounting software.
  • Experience using SIMS.
  • Previous experience working in a school finance role.
  • Working knowledge of Trust and school policies and procedures.
