HOURS: Full time/perm - 38 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 6 hrs – finish early)

About the role

Mirus Aircraft Seating is seeking a highly skilled manufacturing engineer with extensive experience in a production environment, ideally within the aerospace or automotive sectors. This role focuses on the development, testing, and ongoing enhancement of commercial aerospace products and their assembly processes. You will leverage your expertise to improve safety, performance, efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness of our products and processes through Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.

In this position, you will support various new product development (NPD) projects, leading Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), production readiness assessments, and the design and implementation of lean manufacturing cells to ensure successful product launches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure readiness for new product development programs by leading reviews and planning activities.
  • Oversee manufacturing engineering requirements with DFM/A, APQP, and project execution throughout the NPD/I process.
  • Design, manufacture, and introduce tooling and assembly aids.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and process performance using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
  • Specify new equipment, processes, and methods aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct process optimization activities to achieve cost reductions and quality enhancements.
  • Mitigate operational risks through structured tools and techniques.
  • Support production operations with system improvements and foster a lean manufacturing culture.
  • Lead process performance and development improvement projects utilizing the DMAIC approach.
  • Engage in process-writing tasks, employing interlocked and error-proofing process control systems.

About You:

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry such as Automotive or Aerospace OEM or First Tier supplier.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to meet manufacturing and production objectives.
  • Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Experience in utilizing industrial risk management tools such as APQP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product realization through a structured approach to DFM/A/C.
  • Experience in conducting Production Readiness Reviews (PPRs) and effectively communicating results in project gate reviews.
  • Familiarity with Robotics and Automation, including operational programming.
  • Project and Program Management experience.
  • Ability to assess, develop, and enhance existing production processes.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying information to diverse audiences.
  • High level of personal accountability and a proactive approach.
  • Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, supported by a relevant professional qualification or vocational training.
