Senior Corporate/Commercial Counsel Opportunity

Taylor Root is partnering with a leading UK headquartered, PE backed logistics and real estate business to find a Senior Corporate/Commercial Counsel for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This role will provide parental leave cover and start in December.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-reputed business that fosters a collaborative culture within the legal team. As Senior Corporate/Commercial Counsel, you will report directly into the General Counsel and work closely with the UK and European management and business teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on a wide range of legal, risk, insurance, and corporate governance matters across jurisdictions in Europe.
  • Oversee and advise the business on their internal approvals process.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts.
  • Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution as necessary.
  • Oversee the renewal of property and corporate insurance programmes.
  • Assist the business with the handling of material claims.
  • Implement strong corporate governance practices and procedures.
  • Draft policies and procedures for various business areas.
  • Advising on applicable UK laws and regulations, ensuring compliance, and keeping up to date with EU and UK laws/regulations and their application to the business.
  • Liaise with key shareholders, investors, business partners, and external counsel.
Requirements
  • Ideal candidate has 10+ years' post-qualification legal experience.
  • Private practice and in-house experience is preferred.
  • Corporate and commercial legal background with the ability to adapt to various areas.
  • Real estate legal experience is not required but beneficial.
  • Experience negotiating high-value, complex contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage junior staff, manage external counsel, and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate advice to the business.
